NASA continues to conduct in-depth exploration of the planet Mars, and their latest discoveries increasingly reveal the mysteries surrounding this red planet. The NASA research team revealed that the Perseverance and Curiosity rover missions had discovered important information regarding the potential for past life on Mars. One of the most interesting discoveries was the presence of trace minerals indicating the presence of water in liquid form in the past. Data taken from soil samples suggests that Mars once had large lakes and may have supported microbial life. Analysis using advanced instruments such as PIXL (Planetary Instrument for X-ray Lithochemistry) has enabled scientists to study the chemical composition of soils rich in essential elements. Furthermore, the Mars 2020 mission, which carried the Perseverance rover, also failed to find clearer biosignatures. One of the important locations visited is Jezero Crater which is thought to be an ancient river delta. Here, research shows the existence of complex organic substances potentially related to ancient life, providing new hope in the search for extraterrestrial life. The Curiosity rover also reported significant discoveries at Gale Crater. By using ChemCam, the rover is able to detect carbonates which indicate complex geological activity. This discovery provides an indication that Mars once experienced warmer and more humid conditions, far from its current cold climate. NASA also explains new methods for sample collection and analysis. Programming and machine learning techniques help in the selection of the most relevant sampling locations and expected results. With the successful use of AI, research becomes more efficient and focused. International collaboration with the European Space Agency (ESA) and other research institutions further strengthens the Mars mission. Plans to return Mars samples to Earth via the Mars Sample Return mission are planned for implementation in the next decade, allowing for more in-depth analysis of Martian material. The results of all this research suggest that Mars has a more complex history than previously thought. With new discoveries continuing to flow, NASA is dedicated to answering fundamental questions about the possibility of extraterrestrial life and the dynamics of planetary geology. Each discovery opens up new opportunities for exploration and understanding of this astronomically ‘close’ but mysterious planet. Facing future challenges, NASA is committed to investing in new technologies and innovative strategies to support future Mars research. This discovery not only changes our knowledge about Mars but also about the potential for life beyond Earth.
