For two weeks late in August, the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Queens transforms into the world’s biggest stage for tennis. The US Open is the final Grand Slam of the year and comes after the Australian Open, French Open and Wimbledon. The tournament offers fans a chance to witness some of the sport’s best players battling on the biggest courts and to watch newcomers rise to prominence on the biggest stage in the sport.
The 2025 US Open begins Sunday, Aug. 24 and runs through Sept. 7. The tournament is scheduled to expand to 15 days, bringing more matches, more drama and a chance to see the future stars of the sport.
It puts the US Open in line with the Australian Open, which switched to a Sunday start a year ago, and the French Open, which added play on Middle Sunday in 2022. But this is the first time the US Open will use an extra day for main-draw play.
During the first week of action, expect marquee matchups on Arthur Ashe and a handful of upsets as seeds struggle.
The second week starts Wednesday and brings the heat as a number of top seeds battle for quarterfinal spots. It also includes a “Super Saturday” that will feature four players fighting for just two spots in the semifinals.
