The Masters leaderboard at Augusta National Golf Club following Friday’s second round.
Justin Rose remains atop the 2025 Masters Tournament leaderboard after firing a one-under 71 on Friday at Augusta National in Georgia. The one-time major champion is three shots ahead of Rory McIlroy, Corey Conners and two-time U.S. Open champion Bryson DeChambeau.
After a disastrous first round, McIlroy came to life in the second with six birdies. But he couldn’t keep it going and dropped two shots on the back nine. Despite the late fade, he finished at even par. He’s now just two shots behind Rose.
That puts McIlroy in the best position he’s been all week to win his first green jacket and join Tiger Woods, Jack Nicklaus, Gary Player and Ben Hogan as players with four or more career Grand Slam titles. But he still has to work hard over the weekend.
Rose is looking for his first title defense at The Masters since 2011. He tees off Saturday in the final group with Corey Conners and Ludvig Aberg, who both shot four-under 68s. A few more rounds like those from both men will push them toward the top of the leaderboard.
