A flurry of excitement
For the first time since Usain Bolt’s opulent run in Rio, Jamaica had another man standing on their perch in the men’s 100m. Oblique Seville’s win in a stacked final was impressive and his one-two with team-mate Kishane Thompson suggests Jamaica are back on their game.
An athletics showpiece
The finals at the World Athletics Championship have been some of the most entertaining in history with a clutch of spectacular performances. Mondo Duplantis’ new pole vault world record, Kenyan double gold in the marathon and a dramatic finish to the men’s 10,000m have all been memorable moments.
An era draws to a close
Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce’s last silver in the women’s 4x100m at World Championships was an apt end to her remarkable career. She was a true legend, claiming 10 world titles in her glittering career and three Olympic golds.
