Rory McIlroy Leads Masters Leaderboard After Round 2

Rory McIlroy rebounded from a poor finish to his even first round with a second-round 6-under 66 to produce the lowest score of the day and take the lead at The Masters. McIlroy’s birdie at the 15th was the highlight of a round where he made nine of 12 greens in regulation, and he nearly eagled the 18th after hooking a 7-iron from the fairway to six feet for a two-putt. Corey Conners and Scottie Scheffler both posted bogey-free rounds of 68, but McIlroy has a three-shot advantage over them heading into the weekend.

Bryson DeChambeau was also able to improve on his first-round 69 with a second-round 68, and he sits at seven under overall. The two-time major winner is vying for his first Masters title, but he will need to do better over the weekend than last year if he wants to win this year’s green jacket.

The 2025 Masters Tournament was held at Augusta National Golf Club in Augusta, Georgia. It was the 89th edition of the Masters Tournament, and it featured a field of 53 players.

Unlike most other PGA Tour events, the Masters is an invitation-only tournament that features only the best players in the world. Players are eligible to receive an invite based on their performance in the previous year’s major championships, current full-time status on the PGA Tour, top-10 finishes in the Masters the past five years, and multiple other criteria.
