The NFL’s annual draft is a marquee event for every franchise, and this year it will be held in Green Bay’s Titletown District at Lambeau Field. ESPN and Disney will deliver wall-to-wall coverage of all seven rounds.
The first round will be conducted Thursday, followed by rounds two and three on Friday, and then rounds four through seven on Saturday. Each team will receive 10 minutes to make its first-round selection, with that time diminishing as the rounds progress. In addition, the league can assign up to 32 additional “compensatory picks” based on a proprietary formula that considers salary, playing time and postseason honors. These will be distributed at the end of rounds three through seven, allowing teams to use them to fill specific holes in their rosters.
There was plenty of drama prior to and during the draft, as a number of trades occurred. In the end, the Titans were the big winner of the night, acquiring quarterback Cam Ward with the top overall pick.
Other notable trades included the Eagles grabbing Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty in Round 2, and the Dolphins taking Ohio State defensive tackle Quinn Ewers in Round 6.
The Ravens are also likely to be praised for their bold move, as they acquired Shedeur Sanders from the Jets for third- and fourth-round picks. Sanders is a dynamic receiver with the speed and instincts to be an elite deep threat. He’ll add a much-needed burst to Baltimore’s passing game, and will pair well with a talented young group that includes Emmanuel Lamar and Joe Flacco.
