Formula 1 Standings

Formula 1 standings provide a breakdown of the drivers and teams’ points accumulated across all races. A driver’s individual points are awarded to them and their team for finishing in the top 10. Team points are based on a combination of a driver’s overall position and each team’s best result in each race. A maximum of 44 points can be earned per race. The teams and drivers with the most points at the end of the season are declared world champions. Despite this, points are not handed out after every race – the number of points a driver earns only impacts the amount they have to pay to extend their FIA super license (i.e. if they win the title and score many points, they’ll have to pay more than a driver that won less).

The 2025 Formula 1 season is underway with Oscar Piastri leading the drivers’ championship standings for McLaren-Mercedes after a lights-to-flag victory at the Dutch Grand Prix. Championship rival Lando Norris was running in second at Zandvoort before suffering a mechanical failure seven laps from home, handing Piastri a big step towards the title.
